It is common for adults to experience sadness, moodiness, anxiety or irritability at times. But when these feelings persist to the point that they interfere with a person’s ability to function normally at home, at work or in social situations, it may be signs of a mental health disorder. Because the symptoms of mental illnesses often develop over time, it is important to recognize early warning signs reflective in a persons feelings or behavior. This can aid in getting an individual help early that can reduce the severity of their illness.
Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) treats adults with behavioral disorders in Inpatient, Outpatient and Partial-hospitalization programs, depending on the specific need of the individual and the severity of symptoms. At PPI, our psychiatrists, behavioral health specialists, Master’s level therapists and RNs personalize each program to meet the unique needs of every individual.
There are many types and levels of mental illness. PPI treats depression, eating disorders, anxiety and phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, emotional and behavioral problems and memory loss.
Our modern treatments and facilities are designed to enable each patient to return to, or begin, a productive life.
Our Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Program is a less restrictive level of care than our Inpatient Program. It requires that patients come to the psychiatric clinic or facility only during treatment hours. This allows for easier maintenance of their normal family and school commitments. Patients who have completed an inpatient psychiatric program typically continue treatment in an outpatient psychiatric program.
This program provides therapeutic and diagnostic treatment planning specific to the needs of the adult, including psychiatry and individual, family and group therapies.
Accepts patients ages 18 and older.
